This new series is The Fault in Our Stars meets Gossip Girl, so get ready

Updated July 29, 2019: The first images and trailer of Hulu’s eight-episode TV adaptation of the popular John Green teen novel, Looking for Alaska, have been revealed showing Miles, or “Pudge” as he’s nicknamed, (played by Charlie Plummer) and Alaska (Kristine Froseth) brought to life on the small screen. The network took to Instagram to share a first look at Pudge and Alaska, and have released a number of additional pictures, which you can see here.
The show is slated to premiere on Hulu in October, but we don’t have confirmation of where or when we can watch it in Australia as yet. In the meantime, Hulu also released a teaser trailer, which you can watch below.
May 11, 2018: Picture this: the creator of Gossip Girl teaming up with author John Green to create the ultimate high school drama-cum-total tear jerker. And yes, it’s coming to a TV screen near you.
Set to be produced by Josh Schwartz (of Gossip Girl and The O.C) and Paramount, everyone’s favourite young adult novel Looking for Alaska has been picked up to run as a TV series, meaning we’re finally going to get to see Pudge and Alaska on the small screen.
Taking to Reddit to answer questions about the TV series, Green was quick to show his support for the project, and confirms it might have more than one perspective throughout the series.
“The truth is, I am excited and I think it will be really good… Josh and Stephanie really know television, and I love their Hulu series Runaways, and from reading the pilot and seeing the series map they’ve laid out, I feel like they’re going to tell the story while also letting you see more of life at Culver Creek, and more of Alaska from her own perspective instead of just Pudge’s deeply flawed one,” he wrote.
“It has been a very long thirteen years trying to figure out how/whether to adapt Alaska, but Josh cared about the book before almost anyone else had even read it, and he and Stephanie have worked so hard to get to this moment, and I am really excited.”
The book, which follows main character Pudge and his relationship with Alaska Young during their time at boarding school, is part love story, part tragedy and part high school drama, all of which meld together for the perfect Riverdale-meets-The O.C series.

According to reports, the show will be streaming on Hulu, which if the Handmaid’s Tale is anything to go off, means it’ll be picked up by a local network in Australia pretty soon afterwards.
Get your tissues ready and pull out your copy of Looking for Alaska to get familiar, because this is going to be a tear-jerker.
