It’s been a big week for Meghan Markle — who despite being on maternity leave — has made tsunami-sized waves in the fashion world after it was revealed the duchess had guest-edited the September “Forces for Change” issue of British Vogue, the first co-editor of the September issue and presumably the first lifestyle blogger/actress-turned-royal to have had such a noteworthy role.

However, the 37-year-old mother-of-one is clearly on a fashionable roll with the royal reportedly sharing in British Vogue that she is launching a capsule collection of workwear that will benefit one of her patronages, Smart Works. According to a statement from the palace, the charity supports “long-term unemployed and vulnerable women regain the skills, confidence and tools to succeed at job interviews, return to employment and transform their lives.”

Royal reporter Omid Scobie, had the details Markle revealed in the September issue about the collection and took to Twitter to share them, announcing that Markle has partnered with quintessential British retailers Marks and Spencer (M&S), Jigsaw, John Lewis & Partners, and Markle’s friend, US-based fashion designer Misha Nonoo, on the fashion line.

Scobie followed with a second tweet detailing what Markle has reportedly written in the magazine about how Smart Works will benefit from the collection. “For each item purchased by a customer, one is donated to charity. Not only does this allow us to be part of each other’s story, it reminds us we are in it together.”

The collection is set to launch later this year and if it’s anything like Markle’s own much-copied and lauded style, we can expect to see a collection of office-appropriate looks that will elevate any nine-to-five situation to a royally-chic level.

For official engagements and off-duty Markle favours fashion-forward dresses and stylish, timeless separates from established and emerging designers as well as pieces from high-street brands.

Of interesting note is the fact that Markle has partnered with British fashion chain Jigsaw, a brand her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, was briefly employed at as an assistant accessories buyer before she married Prince William.
