Zimmermann celebrates the opening of its New York City flagship with the help of celebrities and royalty
Australian luxury label, Zimmermann, has much to celebrate this week, with the opening of its new New York City flagship store on September 4.
In the lead up to their now-regular spot on the New York Fashion Week schedule, sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann have found the time to open their third New York CIty boutique, with their Soho and Meatpacking district stores having opened over the last couple of years.

Celebrating the opening of its new space on the iconic Madison Avenue, as well as its soon-to-drop spring/summer 2020 collection, the brand hosted an intimate in-store cocktail event, during which attendees could browse new pieces, as well as the store’s heritage architecture-inspired interiors.
Spanning an impressive 159 square metres at its 900 Madison Avenue address, the new store fit-out had its 1940s heritage listing in mind when it came to every interior element. Working with the space’s existing bones, the brand set out to create the feel of a local NYC apartment, mixing mid-century fixtures in with modern elements.
Each room within the store has been purpose made to showcase Zimmermann’s stocked collections, each featuring custom handmade floor and wall tiles, as well as lights and furniture, with the unique feel of the brand remaining constant throughout.
Custom metalwork, light fixtures, millwork and merchandise displays were also custom made for the store with the help of Australia-based interiors brand Studio McQualter, and artworks by Australian artist Sally Ross and David Griggs were added to the boutique’s walls, while a 1960s Murano glass chandelier and large Italian brass sconces were also worked into the interiors to maintain the store’s retro feel.
While we need to give the gorgeous handcrafted interiors their due when it comes to drawing a crowd, if you’re going to throw a launch party in the thick of New York Fashion Week, you better believe the A-list attendees will be ready to celebrate with you.
Helping the store ring in its exciting opening celebrations, celebrities, influencers, and royals came together to help the Zimmermann sisters commemorate their sixth New York state store. Katie Holmes and Talita von Furstenberg (AKA granddaughter of Diane Von Furstenberg) rubbed shoulders with Nicky Hilton Rothschild and Olympia of Greece, while Australian fashion faces, Victoria Lee and Margaret Zhang toasted their fellow Australians in the company of Aerin Lauder and Danielle Bernstein.
An intimate group of attendees then joined Nicky and Simone for a dinner at nearby restaurant Flora Bar at the Met Breuer to continue the store opening celebrations.
