Wright hails Klopp for his handling of Liverpool youngster
Ian Wright has praised Jurgen Klopp for his “brilliant management” of Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones.
The midfielder is considered one of Liverpool’s brightest young prospects. Jones made his first-team debut during the 2018/19 season.
Klopp handed him more opportunities to impress last year. The 19-year-old made 12 appearances in all competitions for the Premier League champions during the 2019/20 campaign.
The Treble: Fragile Liverpool, Arsenal recovery, Man Utd title
Liverpool have had a lot of bad luck with injuries this season. This has meant that Klopp has had to rely a lot on his young players.
Jones has featured the most out of the Reds’ inexperienced players. The midfielder has featured 15 times already this season, and he has scored three times.
His performances have garnered a lot of praise, as he has never really looked out of place in Liverpool’s first team.
Speaking during Optus Sport’s Kelly and Wright Show, the Premier League legend hailed Klopp for how he has aided Jones’ progress:
“You look at him and I watched him in a massive game for Liverpool and he just looks like he fits there now.
“For Curtis Jones, it looks like he has really solidified the place.
“Some of the skills he was doing, it just shows how confident and ready he is.
“You have to say it’s testament to Klopp and his team for the way they’ve put him through. It’s brilliant management.”
So with Spurs looking to recover, Leeds looking for satisfaction, Southampton looking to keep going and Arsenal looking for just literally anything, you could call this a Big Weekend.
