Ollie Watkins has heaped praise on his Aston Villa teammate Jack Grealish after they beat Arsenal 3-0 at the Emirates.

The forward made his long-awaited switch to the Premier League this summer. He signed for Villa from Championship side Brentford for £28m, which was a new club-record transfer for the Villans.

Watkins joined Brentford from Exeter City in 2017 for around £1.8m. He was 21 years old at the time, and he dealt with the switch from League Two to the Championship with ease.

He scored 49 goals in 143 outings for Brentford. This includes 25 Championship goals during the 2019/20 campaign. The 24-year-old has hit the ground running with Villa, scoring six goals from his seven Premier League outings.

Aston Villa are sixth in the Premier League going into the international break. Their great start has been helped massively by the form of Grealish. The England international has been involved in nine goals from his seven league appearances so far this season.

Watkins spoke with BBC Sport after the win over Arsenal, and he was quick to recognise what Grealish offers to Villa:

“Jack Grealish is unbelievable on the ball. I just have to make a run and hopefully, the ball will come and he does find me more often than not so just got to keep making the runs and the goals will come.

“I think I have another level in the second half you saw what I’m about, getting the ball, setting and spinning and making defenders run towards their own goal, that’s what I’m about so hopefully the more I can do that the more goals I can score.”
