Vogue and Nike unveil Air Jordans inspired by Anna Wintour
Vogue has teamed with Nike to release a new pair of Nike Air Jordans
inspired by the publication’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
The
industry veteran, who also serves as artistic director of Condé Nast,
influenced two new shoe designs from the brand – including the Air Jordan
I, renamed AJI High Zip AWOK (Anna Wintour OK). The special edition
footwear features Wintour’s AWOK signature on the bottom of the soles and a
metal zipper with a crimson tongue. Two colors are available, including
University Red and an off-white shade called Sail.
The high tops
will be available beginning July 21 at Hirshleifers, Kith, Nordstrom X
Nike, and North America Jumpman doors in Toronto and Chicago. Nike SNKRS
app users can purchase the item the following day.
The Air Jordan
III SE, which can be purchased in sparkly black or red tweed, will go on
sale September 7, in conjunction with New York Fashion Week. Both pieces
are marked with a red Edited by Vogue air tag. Prices have yet to be
announced.
Wintour sports the new looks in a promotional video, in
which she can be seen shooting hoops from her desk – all while wearing her
trademark Chanel sunglasses.
