Victoria and David Beckham: their love through images

Much has changed since David and Victoria Beckham exchanged vows on 4 July 1999, sat atop golden thrones in Ireland’s Luttrellstown Castle – not least their style. From the very early stages of their relationship, the power couple had a penchant for matching ensembles, a habit that has continued long into their marriage.

It started with their engagement announcement – both in all-black outfits – and was repeated on their wedding day, twinning in all-white looks: she in a strapless Vera Wang dress; he in a creamy three-piece suit. (Later in the evening, they repeated the styling trick with coordinating purple attire by Antonio Berardi for the cake-cutting.) The year of their marriage also saw the infamous matching leather ensembles, sported to attend a Versace party.

As their family grew, and David’s football career took them abroad, their sartorial tastes similarly took flight. Roberto Cavalli and Dolce & Gabbana became the former Spice Girl’s go-to, matched by David’s similarly glitzy, notably loose suiting.

Hollywood came calling in 2007 when the Beckham brood relocated to Los Angeles. Their wardrobe took a turn for the tailored; David’s suits matched with formal shirts rather than low-cut tops and stacks of necklaces, and Victoria adopting a more sculptural approach to the red carpet, with designs by the likes of Roland Mouret, Giambattista Valli and Marc Jacobs.

Since then, the English couple have become fashion week fixtures in their own right – Victoria with her eponymous line and David as business partner of Kent & Curwen – and they now stand as one of the most stylish star couples in the world. Here, looks back at the evolution of their style as a couple.Click Here: toulon rugby shop melbourne
