The Swedish royal family have released cute new portraits of Crown Princess Victoria’s two children
As the hot weather arrives in the northern hemisphere, members of British and European royalty tend to take a summer break. For the Swedish royal family, this is usually an excuse to reveal new summer portraits, which has become a bit of a tradition in recent years. The heir to the Swedish throne, Crown Princess Victoria, has continued the trend this year, releasing three new portraits of her two children to celebrate their summer break.
Revealed on the Swedish royal family’s official Instagram page, @kungahuset , the series of portraits show Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel’s two children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar, commencing their “sommarlov” or summer vacation.
In the first image, Princess Estelle, 7, can be seen pictured in a meadow, blowing seeds from a dandelion, while in another, Prince Oscar, 3, smiles holding what appears to be a green insect. The third shot shows the two royal children playing together against a backdrop of greenery.
Their mother, Crown Princess Victoria, is the heir to the Swedish throne, and will take over when her father steps down. She’s the eldest daughter of Carl XVI Gustaf, the current king of Sweden who has been at the helm since 1973, and his wife, Queen Silvia of Sweden. Crown Princess Victoria married her personal trainer, now known as Prince Daniel, Duke of Västergötland, in a royal wedding in 2010. The couple welcomed Princess Estelle in 2012 and Prince Oscar in 2016, making Princess Estelle the future monarch. Interestingly, Princess Estelle was the first royal in Swedish history to be born of a female heir and also be slated to become the heir apparent.
