While New York Fashion Week proved to provide a mound of memorable moments, Paris Fashion Week—and its strong hold on the fashion world it won’t soon release—never fails to bring with it iconic instances that will go down in history.

After a relatively quiet couple of weeks in the fashion sphere as London and Milan Fashion Week came and went, Paris has debuted with a bang, leaving a lasting impression before it has even ended that will stay with us until the next season nears.

Yes, the French capital has once again proved its ability to draw a notable crowd, and an even more attractive roster of designers who present their collections throughout the week, but what this key week in the fashion calendar never fails to provide is a series of awe-inspiring moments that will never go missed.

We’re talking rappers going rogue in vision-inhibiting couture, models walking onto the runway undressed, and an appearance from our favourite momager.

Cardi B staged a hilarious impromptu photo call in a head-to-toe floral outfit by Richard Quinn
There’s rarely a Cardi B sighting that goes by without leaving at least a dozen headlines its path. And although it’s her hilarious one-liners or out-of-this-world vocal tricks that tend to grab our attention, sometimes those instances merge with a glorious wardrobe moment (read: her opulent 2019 Met Gala look), that serve cement our love for the rapper with each and every occurrence.

Most recently, that harmonious balance between couture and comedy manifested itself with a surprise appearance of hers on the streets of Paris during fashion week. Staging an impromptu photoshoot with a swarming crowd of paparazzi, Cardi B revealed it was indeed her in a literal head-to-toe floral look by Richard Quinn, serving a line that only confirmed the disguised figure was in fact the rapper: “What’s poppin’ baby!”

Issey Miyaki dressed his models on the runway
Surely sending models down the runway in the wrong look, or no look all together, has to be a designer’s worst nightmare, particularly in the thick of Paris Fashion Week. But perhaps Issey Miyake, who recently presented his spring/summer 2020 collection in the French capital, is immune to that fear, the designer sending her models out in skin coloured underwear and not much else.

However, after a few moments of what was certainly confusion on the faces of show attendees, the designer’s new season wares dropped from the ceiling, floating delicately onto the body of each model courtesy of a pulley system, the hi-tech dressing method confirmed by representatives of the brand, as reported by Insider.

And what followed was just as excitement-inducing, with each model bopping around in their looks, the colour-blocked pieces springing up and down, and shortly after, additional models crossed the runway in neon-coloured capes, riding in on skateboards before each of them zipped up their capes, almost concealing their faces, for the final walk.

Kris Jenner stood in for daughter Kylie at the Balmain show
Set to appear at Balmain’s spring/summer 2020 presentation for the debut of her KylieXBalmain make-up collection, created in collaboration with the French fashion house’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing, Kylie Jenner—who was meant to serve as the show’s artistic director of make-up—sadly had to bow out of her fashion week duties after she was hospitalised with flu-like symptoms.

But making the best of a bad situation, the 22-year-old did send another Jenner in her place, and honestly, we were equally thrilled to see her runway-side. Kris Jenner stepped in for her ailing daughter, dressed head-to-toe in Balmain and oozing elegance as usual, taking her seat next to Eva Longoria in the front row before the runway kicked off.

No word on whether Jenner stepped backstage to assume creative director duties, but we’re almost sure she conducted as thorough a make-up check as we’d expect the momager to.

Helen Mirren ran barefoot down the runway
Walking in L’Oreal Paris’s third annual ‘Le Défilé’ show, Helen Mirren recently proved herself not only as a Queen on-screen, but also regal on the runway, serving a show moment we won’t soon forget.

Grabbing the hem of her voluminous Giambattista Valli gown in each hand, the actress burst out of the backstage area and ran barefoot into the courtyard of the Monnaie de Paris where the presentation was held, and honestly, we think everyone would agree that the actress outshone her runway co-stars, which included Camila Cabello, Amber Heard, Andie McDowell, and Eva Longoria

“If it was just me in a show, it would be, ‘Oh, what an amazing novelty that they have a really old woman walking!’—and I wouldn’t feel so good about that,” the Oscar-winning actress told Vogue US backstage ahead of the show. “But here we are, a whole, diverse group of sizes, shapes, genders, and races. We’re making a statement about inclusivity of the family of L’Oreal and I think that’s a great message and I’m happy to be a part of it… I just hope I don’t fall over!”
