Last year MTV rocked our TV viewing worlds when they announced they were bringing back the reality show, The Hills, that gave rise to the reality drama genre that we know, love and are still compelled to watch today.

The original series of The Hills ran for six seasons between 2006 and 2010 and was the next step for Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County series alum Lauren Conrad. The show followed Conrad as she headed to Teen Vogue for an internship and navigated her day-to-day professional and personal life alongside her fellow castmates/friends/work associates including Heidi Montag, Audrina Partridge, Whitney Port, Stephanie Pratt, Spencer Pratt and Lo Bosworth.

When the series ended in 2010 the interest in this cast of privileged Los Angelenos continued unabated. Enter: The Hills: New Beginnings.

MTV’s rebooted 2019 version of the hit reality show arrived on our screens in June this year with many of the original cast from the first series including Kylie and Kendall’s half-brother, Brody Jenner, Audrina Patridge, Heidi Pratt (née Montag), Spencer Pratt and Stephanie Pratt, all returning to the reality show. The OC’s Mischa Barton also joined the cast, because what’s a reality show without new personalities to bring some extra drama?

The rebooted version was welcomed back by fans of the original show and also new fans, with People reporting The Hills: New Beginnings season one as “wildly successful”. Of course, once fans have been given a taste of the high drama only a reality show of this kind can provide, they want more and MTV is happy to deliver.

According to People, The Hills: New Beginnings has been renewed for a second season. It’s not yet known if all the cast from the first season of the rebooted show will be returning or whether new cast members will join, but the publication reports that when MTV approached the original cast initially for season one, most of the cast were keen to return. “We got back together and it feels like no time has passed,” Audrina Patridge told the publication.

Of course the element fans enjoyed most about the show — the drama — started as soon as the cast were in the same room together. Cast member Stephanie Pratt reportedly shared on her iHeartRadio Pratt Cast podcast that when the cast were together pre-show for a photo shoot her sister-in-law, cast member Heidi Pratt, gave all the other girls on the cast a bottle of champagne as a gift but left her out of the gift giving. And Pratt did not appreciate that.

Fellow cast member, Brody Jenner, reiterated Pratt’s sentiments about the rebooted show having drama from the get-go, reportedly telling People as much. “Right out of the gate, people were coming for each other’s throats!”

No details have been revealed as yet on when season two will air, but since the drama never stops with this cast, it’ll probably be soon, so fans don’t miss a minute!
