If you’ve been tuning into the seventh installment of The Bachelor Australia, and we all know you have been, then there is no denying that you’re well-aware the last two episodes have been the most drama-filled of the season.
To sum the most recent scandal up, on Wednesday night’s episode, Abbie revealed she had kissed Matt during a cocktail party, and outrage in the mansion ensued. Abbie then informed the charming astrophysicist that Monique had described him in a rather derogatory manner when the cameras weren’t rolling.
When confronted by Matt, Monique denied she had called him a “disgusting pig” among other profanities, forcing the bachelor to take matters into his own hands. He confronted a number of the other contestants, many of who verified Abbie’s story.
Matt was understandably disappointed in Monique, but decided to give her one last chance to prove herself. On Thursday night’s episode, she failed to do so and was unsurprisingly sent home, along with Vakoo.
In an effort to get to the bottom of the drama, Vogue quizzed Monique on the truth behind the swearing scandal, which she maintains was “wildly taken out of context.”
“I definitely swear but it’s always jokingly,” the 26-year-old explained. “I don’t think I said it how she said it and I will continue to say that I don’t think that I said that sentence.”
Although she denied the accusations, according to Monique, she was actually comforting the upset women in the mansion just prior to when the conversation with fellow contestant Rachael took place.
“We were having a laugh together and I guess it turned into a prime opportunity for Abbie to take what I said and manipulate it and make it seem like it was something that it wasn’t,” said the self-described tomboy.
However, when speaking with Vakoo, the model told Vogue that, “she says that she didn’t say the pig one, which I have to just take her word for, but she did say she said the other one.”
Monique went on to clarify that it wasn’t even the kiss that had caused her outburst. “My reasons as to why I was so pissed off weren’t properly shown,” she explained. “It wasn’t because I was jealous and it wasn’t because of a kiss, it was because there were beautiful women who felt less because of the situation.”
And while she is maintaining she didn’t say the things she was accused of saying, Monique confirmed that she informed Matt she doesn’t “swear like that and mean it and it wasn’t a meaningful conversation.”
She went on to explain that she felt Matt was far more angry than he was portrayed to be when he had been informed of how she had described him. According to her, “a lot of the comments I was saying to Matt weren’t shown properly,” and while long conversations with him were had, they “were just going round and round in circles,” and “he didn’t really want to listen.”
Ultimately, the bachelor chose not to give Monique a rose, and she packed her bags and made her way back home.
“No I’m having a laugh, 100 per cent,” she shared when asked about whether or not she was finding the experience of watching the scenario unfold on TV difficult. “Life goes on,” she added.
