Solskjaer bemoans Man Utd’s lack of two key qualities

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said his side weren’t “cynical” and “clinical” enough at both ends of the pitch, following their 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Monday evening.

After Scott McTominay opened the scoring for United on the stroke of half-time, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang levelled the scores in the second half with a coolly chipped finish past David de Gea.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Solskjaer backed  his side’s killer touch to come with time and more games.

“This is another time that we go 1-0 up and we don’t get that second goal that we want to get. That’s the learning now for this team, that we want to be more cynical, more clinical at both ends of the pitch.

“There have been so many games where we have been 1-0 up but we’ll learn, definitely and I think today was a steep learning curve for a few because it was a bad goal to give away but sometimes you make those passes and you play out and it looks good and today, maybe it’s time that we learn from it.

“It’s a young side and we are at the start of building something and we are going somewhere. It’s disappointing that we couldn’t get that second goal.”

United now face AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League before travelling to Newcastle on Sunday.
