Sancho makes Man United choice as Liverpool confidence grows
Liverpool ‘have informed’ Borussia Dortmund of their interest in Jadon Sancho – who ‘fancies a move’ to Manchester United.
Sancho is likely to leave Dortmund this summer after three successful years in Germany.
The 19-year-old is thought to be keen to return to the Premier League, with former club Manchester City among those interested in signing him.
But the Daily Mirror say United are ‘firm favourites’ and ‘have already made inroads into trying to get the deal done’.
Sancho would stand to become one of the club’s highest earners on a deal worth around £200,000 a week, with United seeing him as their potential ‘new poster boy’. You can see why.
OPINION: Sancho ticks every Man United transfer box but one
The Daily Mail say Liverpool have let Dortmund know that they, too, will pursue the forward.
The Reds feel a number of factors ‘will work in their favour’ when it comes to striking a deal for Sancho, including Jurgen Klopp’s relationship with Dortmund, and Sancho’s friendships with Liverpool’s England internationals.
He is also said to be close with Rhian Brewster, on loan at Swansea, and with whom he won the U17 World Cup in 2017.
Klopp cited “cost” as an issue when asked about a possible move for Sancho in December, with interest from Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid likely to push his valuation towards £120m.
Steve McManaman reckons Sancho would turn them down anyway. So yeah.
