Liverpool star Mo Salah only has “mild” COVID-19 symptoms, as confirmed by Egypt’s club doctor.

It was confirmed on Friday that Salah had tested positive for the virus while away on international duty with Egypt.

Salah is the latest Liverpool player to test positive, after Thiago and Sadio Mane both tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this season.

Salah has now been ruled out of Egypt’s remaining games, as well as Liverpool’s game at Anfield against Leicester on November 22.

After the news emerged about Salah’s positive test, pictures circulated of Salah celebrating at his brother’s wedding without wearing a mask.

Egypt club doctor, Mohamed Abou Elela, spoke with The Associated Press about Salah’s condition, as cited by The Daily Mail.

“He’s a mild case – he doesn’t have severe symptoms. He has to self-isolate in Egypt until his test returns negative and then, of course, he can travel back.

“The concerns [are] from the Egyptian authorities because Mo for Egypt is special. Everyone here wants to help and to do whatever the whole country can do.”
