Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has praised his team for their ‘superb reaction’ as they came from behind to beat Liverpool 3-1.

The Foxes went behind in the second half as Mo Salah sent his shot past Kasper Schmeichel, following a brilliant assist by Roberto Firmino.

Leicester brought things level through James Maddison in the 78th minute.

The in-form England international scored from a free kick after Harvey Barnes was brought down on the edge of the box.

Alisson made a terrible error not long after, allowing Jamie Vardy to race onto the ball and score an easy tap in.

Harvey Barnes scored Leicester’s third in the 85th minute to secure all three points.

Speaking after the victory, Rodgers told BBC Sport: “It was a very good win, the players deserved it.

“We didn’t sink when we went a goal behind, we stayed calm and the players were brilliant in that period, a real collective team performance. You can see the improvement in the team’s mindset. Our reaction was superb.

“I am very proud of the team. A year ago if we’d have gone behind we would have got nothing from it.

“We had good chances in the first half but we needed to be more aggressive. Second half we were much better and we attacked with aggression, we adapted really well to a plan if we went behind.

“We went to two up front with a diamond so when the game broke down for them we could exploit it. We had to fight, to run, to work – and then we had the quality to get the goals.

“Whatever we are asking the players to achieve with important players missing they are doing. There is a long way to go, 14 games, we are not getting carried away with anything.”

The result moves Rodgers’ side up to second on 46 points. They’re maintaining the pressure on Man City and Man Utd at the top.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have now lost three league matches in a row. They’re currently fourth, ten points behind City.
