Priyanka Chopra Jonas is not here for your thoughts on the age gap in her relationship

Priyanka Chopra Jonas is not interested in negativity, and she continues to prove that by prohibiting any cynical thoughts on her relationship with Nick Jonas from getting under her skin. Yes there is a 10-year age gap between the newlyweds, who married in a multi-day ceremony late last year, but she maintains that isn’t anyone’s business.

In a recent interview, Chopra Jonas addressed the controversial topic for the upteenth time, confirming that “people gave us a lot of shit about that and still do.” Going on to make a very valid point, the 36-year-old star added, “when you flip it and the guy is older, no one cares and actually people like it.”

The Baywatch actress then touched on a particular incident, whereby a publication accused her of being a scam artist. Chopra Jonas says this caused a considerable about of outrage in the Jonas family. “Nick, Joe, Sophie, my mom, his parents, everyone was there furiously typing on their phones,” she says of the news story that was later unpublished. “They were so mad.”

As for how Chopra Jonas manages to take such criticisms in her stride? The star shares that she opts to take the higher road. “Commenting on some stupidity means it eventually becomes important because I gave it importance,” she told the publication. “A lot of people don’t understand that way of thinking. It’s not a myopic thought … it’s a long-term plan.”

Speaking of long-term plans, Chopra Jonas also revealed she is in the midst of writing a memoir titled Unfinished, is working on a yet-to-be-named romantic comedy loosely based on her own wedding with Mindy Kaling, and is planning a reality TV show with her husband, based on Indian pre-wedding events.

On top of all that, she also hopes to start a family with Jonas when the time is right. “My big endgame is creating a formidable career and legacy for myself, but at the same time I want to have moved something,” Chopra Jonas says. “I want my kids to turn around and be like, ‘Yeah, that was my mom.’”
