NXT Recap (7/10): Street Profits Defend The Titles, Priest In Action, Io Shirai
Tonight’s episode of NXT was filmed at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.
NXT song intro.
Mauro Ranallo, Beth Phoenix, and Nigel McGuinness welcome us to another edition of NXT television. Show opens with Io Shirai, who comes out to a brand new theme song. Footage of her title matchup inside a steel cage against Shayna Baszler from a couple weeks ago is shown. Shirai came up just short, then attacked Candice LeRae post-match. Commentary tells us Shirai is here to explain her actions.
Shirai can’t even talk because the fans boo her so much. “I don’t need any friends. I don’t need any of you.” She drops the mic ending the segment.
Cut to a backstage press conference with the North American champion Velveteen Dream. He’s asked who is next challenger might be. Dream responds by saying that he didn’t approve that question and refuses to answer. “Next question.” A different reporter asks about Roderick Strong, who picked up a clean pinfall over the Dream during a tag bout. Dream doesn’t believe that Strong has the credibility to be in the ring with him. Dream walks away after that, thus ending the press conference.
Commentary hypes the main event between the Street Profits and Danny Burch/Oney Lorcan, but coming up next…Damian Priest in action.

Back to Full Sail. Damian Priest makes his way out for our opening contest. He’ll be facing…Blanco Loco.
Damian Priest versus Blanco Loco
Priest connects with a kick sending Loco into the corner. Stinger splash, followed by a release suplex. Priest picks Loco up by the throat…Loco fires off a right hand. Priest didn’t like that. Huge lariat. Another one. Priest goes to the corner…cyclone kick. He hits the reckoning. It’s over.
Damian Priest wins by pinfall.

Boa makes his way out. An introduction video is played as heads to the ring, where he says that he came to represent China in NXT, and fights for his family.
Jordan Myles is next. His video details that he’s a Texas boy, who’s been wrestling for over 13 years. He says that he hopes the NXT University is ready to watch him grab this opportunity. Myles offers a handshake…Boa bows.
Jordan Myles versus Boa NXT Breakout Tournament Round One
Tie-up. Boa goes for an early head kick but Myles ducks it. Second tie-up. Boa with a headlock takedown. Myles manages to break free and ties up Boa’s arm. Deep arm-drag by Myles. Nice sequence of evasions, followed by a dropkick from Myles. He plays to the crowd, then slows the pace down with a wristlock. Boa gets to his feet and connects with a low kick. Myles with a school-boy…Boa rolls through and hits a kick to the chest. He traps Myles in the ring ropes and unloads kicks to his back. Axe kick sends Myles hard into the mat. Pinfall…only two. Standing arm-triangle by Boa. Myles creates separation with a couple of knees but Boa forces him to the corner. Myles blocks a kick…Boa responds with a double-underhook suplex.
Another thunderous kick from Boa, targeting Myles’ chest. Myles taunts Boa to keep striking…he catches a kick and unloads a flurry of strikes. Running elbow from Myles. Another. Leg-sweep and basement dropkick in succession. Boa in the corner…Myles with a discus lariat. He climbs to the top…450 lands. It’s over.
Jordan Myles wins by pinfall to advance
Commentary tells us that Myles will face Angel Garza in the next round. Next week’s Breakout Tournament bout will be Dexter Lumis against Bronson Reed.
Elsewhere, NXT women’s champ Shayna Baszler is asked about Mia Yim. Baszler says that she’s heard Yim’s story before, and it doesn’t impress her. “No matter who stands across from me…it’s going to end the same way.”
Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch are seen preparing for the main event. The Street Profits do the same.

Video vignette hyping Keith Lee. He says he’s faced all types of competitors in his last year in NXT, but that he’s never been picked to be “the guy.” He says no matter what…he’s always going to end on top. “I’m thinking in year two…there’s going to have to be some changes.”
Cut to NXT General Manager William Regal. (It’s from earlier in the day.) He says that wrestlers from all around the world are coming to NXT to face KUSHIDA. He reveals that Apollo Crews from SmackDown Live will be back to face KUSHIDA on next week’s NXT. Also next week…Adam Cole defends the NXT title.
Main event time. The tag champs are out first, followed by Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan. Here we go.
Street Profits versus Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch for the NXT Tag Team championship
Lorcan and Ford begin. Tie-up. Lorcan with a wristlock. Ford shows off his athleticism to reverse the pressure. Lorcan forces Ford into his corner…Dawkins with the blind-tag. He runs right through Lorcan with a shoulder tackle, then grounds him with a chinlock. Lorcan is able to tag out to Burch. Burch comes in and applies a headlock onto Dawkins. Dawkins off the ropes…Ford comes in…double-flapjack to Burch. Double-flapjack to Lorcan. Tandem offense by the Street Profits sends Lorcan and Burch to ringside. They take a second to regroup.
Dawkins offers a handshake…Burch kicks him in the gut, then climbs the middle rope for a missile dropkick. Crowd boos Burch for the disrespect. Lorcan back in. Huge chop to Dawkins echoes through Full Sail. Double-suplex from Lorcan and Burch onto Dawkins. After unloading strikes, Burch applies a crossface…Dawkins in trouble…Ford runs in to break the hold. Burch and Ford taunt each other but Burch turns his attention back to Dawkins. He clubs him with forearms. Burch climbs the middle-rope again…dropkick misses this time. Both tag out.
Ford runs through Lorcan and Burch with lariats. Pop-up Alabama slam to Lorcan. Dropkick to Burch. Standing moonsault for a nearfall. Dawkins right back in. Corkscrew splash by the Street Profits. Ford uses Dawkins to hit a sliced bread onto Burch with pin…only a two. Profits go for a doomsday device…Burch pushes Ford into Dawkins. Lorcan with a half-and-half onto Ford! Burch with a PK. Cover…Ford gets a shoulder out. Big German suplex by Burch. Ford manages to tag out. All four men are down. “This is awesome” chants.
Lorcan with big chops to Ford, who fires back with a superkick. Ford bounces off the ropes…Tope Con Hilo to Burch on the outside. Lorcan goes for one but Dawkins with a right hand out of nowhere. Burch back in the ring…spinebuster from Dawkins. Frog splash by Ford. That’ll do it.
The Street Profits win by pinfall to retain the NXT Tag Team championship
Street Profits celebrate. Undisputed Era’s Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly come out applauding. They all share a staredown.
