Newcastle face £18m fee for ‘interested’ Benitez replacement
Newcastle face paying a compensation fee of £18m if they want to prise Sergio Conceicao from Porto.
Conceicao has emerged as a potential target to replace Rafael Benitez when his contract as Newcastle manager expires at the end of the week.
Sky Sports say the 44-year-old ‘is interested’ in the upcoming vacancy, having won the Portuguese league title in his first season last campaign.
Porto were edged out by bitter rivals Benfica by just two points this past season, with Conceicao now open to a different challenge.
Sky add that Newcastle ‘have a long list of names’ and Conceicao ‘would fit the profile of manager they are looking for’.

According to the Newcastle Chronicle, the contract extension he signed with Porto in March increased his release clause, ‘meaning any club wanting to take him would have to pay £18million’.
That would make him Newcastle’s second most expensive signing ever.
In 12 laughable years as Newcastle owner, Mike Ashley has not once paid compensation for a manager.
