New Product Range – Innovative Novel Products Developed by Biosynth Carbosynth

We are pleased to be launching our new range of products to help combat the rise of antibiotic resistant bacteria – the X-Shining AST Range. This set of products provide a rapid readout for determining antibiotic susceptibility.

Antibiotic resistance of pathogenic bacteria is a rising threat to human health world-wide. For treatment and prevention, it is crucial to identify and track antibiotic resistant bacteria.

The X-Shining™ AST (Antibiotic Susceptibility Test) range of products provide an alternative test system to conventional, growth-based AST tests with a read-out time of only 30 to 60 min. The test relies on the monitoring of released ATP in the absence and presence of the antibiotic of interest. ATP release is measured via luminescent signal generated by the reaction of ATP with X-Shining™ luciferase and D-luciferin.

As part of our innovative brands developed by our R&D team, this range uses our outstanding thermostable X-Shining™ luciferase and simple to use, ATP assay technology that means all you have to do is add water and assay the samples of interest.

Featured test antibiotics: Imipenem (EX182069), Cefotaxime (EX182070) and Ampicillin (EX182071). All are used with X-Shining Base Medium (EX182068)

Luminescent signal generated by the reaction of ATP with X-Shining™ luciferase and D-luciferin.

Sensitive bacteria (E.Coli ATCC 25922): The antibiotic leads to increased leakage of ATP within 30 to 60 min after exposure.
Imipenem sensitive bacteria exhibit a considerably increased luminescence compared to resistant bacteria (E.Coli BAA-2452).
