Mookie Betts Trade At Risk As Twins May Pull Out Of Deal
BOSTON — The trade that would send Red Sox star Mookie Betts and David Price to the Los Angeles Dodgers is at risk of completely falling apart after the Minnesota Twins reportedly coudld pull out of the deal. The three-team blockbuster trade was supposed to send Betts and Price to the Dodgers while the Red Sox get pitcher Brusdar Graterol from the Twins and outfield Alex Verdugo from Los Angeles, as well as another unnamed player.

But according to a report from the Star Tribune, the Twins are “very pessimisitic” about its end of the deal will be completed because they do not want to give up an additional top 10 prospect that the Red Sox are reportedly demanding after reviewing Graterol’s medical records.
The trade initially got held up when after the Red Sox became concerned after a medical review of Graterol. Graterol at 21 had already undergone Tommy John shoulder surgery, and the Red Sox were worried the young right-hander’s trajectory would be as a reliever rather than a starter.
The mega deal was sparked by the Red Sox’s desperation to get under the luxury tax and reports that Betts didn’t want to continue his career in Boston. The Red Sox and Dodgers may now have to look for a third team to facilitate the trade.
