Millions Impacted By DoorDash Data Breach
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — DoorDash announced on Thursday that it was the target of a massive data breach that impacts 4.9 million customers, drivers and restaurants that use the food delivery service. The information accessed in the breach is broad-ranged, including both personal and financial information.
Customers:
Profile information including names, email addresses, delivery addresses, order history, phone numbers, and encrypted passwords. In addition, the last four numbers of some consumer payment cards were accessed, but the full card numbers and CVV were not accessed.
Drivers (Dashers):
Approximately 100,000 driver’s-license numbers were accessed. In addition, the last four digits of some bank account numbers were compromised, but the full bank account information was not accessed.
Restaurants:
Just like the drivers, the last four digits of some bank account numbers were compromised, but the full bank account information was not accessed.
In a DoorDash blog posting, the company reports that only those who joined before April 5, 2018 are affected. If that includes you, here’s what to do immediately:
1. Change your password on DoorDash to something unique. Here’s the link to change your password.
2. Check your payment card or bank account associated with your DoorDash account for unusual activity. Continue to monitor it. Report suspicious activity to your bank
3. If you have questions or concerns, contact a dedicated call center set up by DoorDash that is available 24/7 for support at 855–646–4683.
San Francisco-based DoorDash is in the process of personally contacting each person or business that was affected, but that process is ongoing. Out of an abundance of caution, follow the steps above if you believe that your account was set up before April 5, 2018.
