Man Utd to make concrete bid for Fernandes – report

Manchester United are set to make a renewed bid to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes “over the next three weeks”.

The Red Devils have pursued the Portugal playmaker all summer with a number of enquiries being rebuffed by Sporting.

But The Independent is reporting that United remain confident of securing the 24-year-old before the start of the new season – though it will cost well in excess of £50million.

Apparently, United’s desire to sign Fernandes is not dependant upon the future of Paul Pogba, who wants to leave Old Trafford, but no one it seems is willing to match the Red Devils’ valuation, which shot up over the weekend.

United are also still keen to sign Sean Longstaff from Newcastle, though the two clubs remain poles apart in their valuation of the 21-year-old, with the Magpies demanding £50million.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still hoping a deal for Harry Maguire can be agreed though an agreement is not close as it was reported over the weekend.
