Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly ready to take over at Paris Saint-Germain, despite links with the Man Utd hot seat.

PSG are on the search for a new manager after sacking Thomas Tuchel earlier today.

Pochettino has now become the favourite to take over in the French capital, according to Manchester Evening News.

Tuchel was sacked despite leading the club to a 4-0 victory over Strasbourg in their most recent match.

They currently sit third in the Ligue 1 table, one point behind Lyon and Lille.

A major reason for Tuchel’s sacking is thought to be the uncertainty around some of their star players.

Neymar and Kylian Mbappe continue to be linked with big money moves, with Tuchel unable to convince them to stay.

PSG chiefs are hoping that Pochettino will be able to sort the situation out.

His main job will be to bring major trophies back to the club. The league will be a priority, alongside the Champions League.

Despite their huge spending, PSG have never won Europe’s elite competition. They finished as runners up last season after being beaten in the final by German giants Bayern Munich.

If Pochettino is formally announced by PSG, it will end rumours of a Premier League return with Man Utd.

He has been closely linked with United during tough spells for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. But Solskjaer is on a positive run at the moment and could finally win some silverware through the Carabao Cup.

Pochettino has previously revealed his plan for returning to management. He said: “My energy is full, I’d love to be involved in the game. But at the same time I need to understand that at the moment is a good moment to wait.

“You need to wait for the right project. Football is going to bring what football wants and we need to be open and to accept or not.”
