Man Utd still chasing three of Mourinho’s transfer targets
Jose Mourinho’s legacy at Manchester United lingers on with the club still targeting three of his transfer recommendations, according to reports.
The Portuguese coach reportedly fell out with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward during his time at United over their failure to tie down some of his targets, before his sacking in December 2018.
The Red Devils have wrapped up the signing of Daniel James from Swansea so far in the transfer window but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be keen for more to follow.
United finished sixth in the Premier League last season and will be desperate to better their placing next term by improving their squad.
And The Sun claims that United are ’embarking on a summer spending spree based on Jose Mourinho‘s recommendations.’
Three in particular are being targeted by United this summer: Leicester City defender Harry Maguire and West Ham duo Issa Diop and Declan Rice.
The report adds it was Mourinho who ‘first instructed his scouting department to keep a close eye on Harry Maguire.’
However, the club failed to sign the centre-back last summer, leaving Mourinho frustrated with his defensive options.
The Sun continues by saying that United are now deciding whether to compete with Manchester City over the signing this summer.
On Diop and Rice, the newspaper claims that United ‘only started monitoring the two Hammers stars after Mourinho suggested they were talents who could thrive at United.’
And West Ham have been ‘approached’ by United over their possible availability.
