Man Utd identify ‘first alternative’ to Sancho but he ‘says no’
Man Utd want Juventus winger Douglas Costa as their priority alternative if they fail to sign Jadon Sancho this summer, according to reports.
Any deal for Sancho has seemingly reached an impasse with the Red Devils refusing to meet the Bundesliga club’s £108m asking price, while Dortmund have no intention of selling their star for less.
Sky Sports reported yesterday that Man Utd approached Borussia Dortmund with an offer worth £92.3m, with £73m to be paid up front and the rest in add-ons.

However, that bid was rejected as the Bundesliga outfit are sticking to their original £108m valuation of the winger.
A right-winger is still their priority for the summer, whether that signing is Sancho or someone else, leading to links with the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Costa.
And now Calciomercato (via Sport Witness) claims that Costa is the Red Devils’ ‘first alternative’ to Sancho with Man Utd willing to begin negotiations for the player.
But the Brazilian apparently ‘says no’ as he doesn’t want to leave Turin with no way of convincing the 30-year-old to ‘evaluate the proposal’.
He wants to stay and fight for his place under Andrea Pirlo, with Calciomercato claiming that this has led to Man Utd pursuing Dembele.
