Man United, Spurs given surprise agent boost over Ajax star

Donny van de Beek “has his eyes set” on joining Manchester United or Tottenham this summer.

Van De Beek was one of the stars of Ajax’s Double-winning team this past season, helping guide them to the Champions League semi-finals.

His efforts were perhaps overshadowed by the younger Matthijs De Ligt and Frenkie De Jong, but 22-year-old Van de Beek has earned plaudits of his own.

The midfielder is contracted to Ajax until 2022, but a Dutch journalist claims that his agent is trying to manufacture a move to England.

Marcel Van der Kraan told talkSPORT that he had spoken with Sjaak Swart with regards to the Premier League.

“Donny van de Beek has his eyes set on the Premier League,” he told talkSPORT.

“I think he’s a proper Premier League player – he’s got a big tank, he’s got the education from Ajax, he can play in more positions in midfield.

“I think he’s got his eyes set on a club like Man United or Tottenham Hotspur.

“I’ve been talking to his agent, and he said if that would materialise it would be something right up his street.”

Swart spoke about his client’s future last week, saying: “Danny is a player capable of adapting to any style of play which privileges organised, attacking football.

“Those are the conditions in which he produces his best. Ajax are a club where these conditions exist but it’s clear every player has ambitions to reach the top.

“Danny isn’t someone who makes decisions based on his bank balance, though. If ever he were to leave Ajax it would only be for an absolute top club.”
