Man City handed injury blow ahead of Southampton
Man City may be without Sergio Aguero for this weekend’s game against Southampton as he missed training in midweek, Pep Guardiola has confirmed.
The forward has only managed to make six appearances in all competitions for Man City this season. His campaign has been hampered by a hamstring injury that he suffered in October.
Aguero made a 14-minute cameo appearance off the bench in midweek against West Brom as his side drew 1-1 at the Etihad.
Cheeky tips both Man City and Arsenal to lose
Man City travel to face Southampton this weekend. Guardiola’s men will be desperate to win so they can close the gap on those near to the top.
But they have been dealt with an injury setback in the build-up. Guardiola has revealed that Aguero was not able to train on Wednesday or Thursday, but he did return to the fold on Friday.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, as cited by Hampshire Live, Guardiola appeared to confirm that Aguero would not start on Saturday.
“I don’t know. After the game he could not train, yesterday no training, today he trained.
“He trained really well but I don’t know how many minutes [he will play against Southampton].
“It’s important he can make training sessions. Unfortunately, after the game, he could not, nothing about the knee. Unfortunately a different position. Today he trained.”
So with Spurs looking to recover, Leeds looking for satisfaction, Southampton looking to keep going and Arsenal looking for just literally anything, you could call this a Big Weekend.
