Lumis out of NXT North American title ladder match, new matches set

On Wednesday’s edition of NXT, General Manager William Regal announced that Dexter Lumis is out of the vacant North American title ladder match at Takeover XXX.

The reason given was that Lumis sustained an ankle injury at the hands of Timothy Thatcher in last week’s qualifying match. Lumis submitted Thatcher with his Silence choke to win the match as Thatcher had Finn Balor in a leglock.

Regal said that due to complaints from Johnny Gargano and Balor that they didn’t directly lose in their respective qualifying matches, he is booking two matches for the Wednesday, August 19th NXT involving the four men that didn’t get beat in the qualifying matches. The winners of those two singles matches will get two of the remaining three spots.

Balor, Gargano, and Ridge Holland are three of the men with the fourth to be decided next week as Kushida vs. Cameron Grimes vs. TBA will square off for the other spot.

Thus far, Bronson Reed and Damian Priest have qualified for the five man match.
