West Ham boss David Moyes expects the loan signing of Jesse Lingard to be their final January transfer.

The Hammers have brought in young centre back Frederik Alves for an undisclosed fee.

They have also made room for Lingard by signing loanee Said Benrahma permanently in a £30 million deal.

Lingard is expected to be announced as a West Ham player in the coming days after travelling to London on Thursday.

The Hammers have agreed to pay a £1.5 million loan fee to parent club Man Utd. They will also cover the 28-year-old’s weekly wages, which are thought to be £75,000 a week.

Moyes believes the signing of Lingard will be his club’s final action during the January transfer window.

Speaking ahead of their clash against Liverpool on Sunday, he said: “I think Jesse will give us more attacking options in as far as he can play nearly all the positions along the front line, and he can play as a midfielder as well.

“I don’t want to be in a position where I’m bringing someone in just for the sake of it. I’ve always said if I can look in my own group to find solutions I will try and do so.

“I can’t deny we’d have liked another striker. We have made offers for one or two players we’d have liked to have got. But for different reasons they’ve not been gettable.

“Are we expecting any more incomings? At the moment, no.”

West Ham have been linked with numerous strikers this month, including Reims’ Boulaye Dia.

It looks like the Premier League side have been priced out of a move and will wait until the summer.

Benrahma is beginning to get more first team opportunities, which will help Moyes in attack.

Speaking about the player’s loan deal being made permanent, Moyes continued: “It was always going to get done, it was never in doubt. It was just the small medical issue.

“He has become a really hard-working team player for us. There is more to come and hopefully we can turn him into a really top Premier League player.”
