Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has admitted to prioritising the Premier League and Champions League after they were dumped out of the EFL Cup.

Marcus Rashford crashed in an unstoppable drive from 30 yards to secure a 2-1 win for Manchester United over Chelsea to secure a place in the last eight.

Chelsea had hauled themselves level through Michy Batshuayi after Rashford opened the scoring from the penalty spot.

But the England international’s stunning free-kick ended Chelsea’s seven-match winning streak and made it three wins on the bounce for United.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard admitted: “The second goal doesn’t come into the equation. It was special, a bolt out of the blue.

“It’s great technique. It was a stunning strike from him, at a time when I felt we were really in the ascendancy.

“We’ve had seven wins on the trot, with some taxing games in the Champions League. Our form in the league has been really good, and it’s clear they are our priorities.

“I saw a lot of positive things. I hate losing but it’s clear there is a bigger picture.”
