Lampard blames Chelsea attack for score draw at Bournemouth

Frank Lampard thinks Chelsea’s attack was to blame as they could only draw 2-2 on the road at Bournemouth as they dropped more points in their quest for Champions League football next season.

Marcos Alonso opened the scoring with a crisp volley after Olivier Giroud struck the bar with an acrobatic flick, but Chelsea were punished for dwelling on that lead.

Jefferson Lerma thumped in a header and three minutes later Josh King tapped in to hand the Cherries control just ahead of the hour.

Blues boss Lampard dispensed with his 3-5-2 formation and withdrew the luckless Fikayo Tomori in favour of Willian, in a desperate bid to reverse his side’s fortunes.

The changes at first yielded precious little dividend, and just when Chelsea feared another costly loss, up popped Alonso with a vital header to take a point.

“We should win, we had many chances,” Lampard told BBC Sport. “We had a bad 10-minute spell where they scored and that I don’t like. I’m pleased with the character to get a draw but we should win the game.

“Against Bayern we conceded twice in a short space of time, it’s not the first time. Could it be a lack of concentration? Possibly from the players.

“People talk about the defence but if you are 1-0 up and leave teams in the game than one set piece can change the game. We should score more goals and then we don’t have that problem.”
