Kofi Kingston Must Defeat FIVE Former Champions If He Wants His WWE Title Match At WrestleMania
Mr. McMahon returned to Smackdown Live this Tuesday night promising to address an incredibly unhappy Kofi Kingston, who has been screwed out of a legitimate WWE Championship opportunity at every single turn over the last few weeks.
The boss made good on his word, taking to the ring in the final segment of the evening, but was quickly confronted by all three members of The New Day, who were in no mood for another one of Vince’s so-called “teachable moments”.
The three each made their case for why Kingston should be awarded an opportunity to fight for the WWE Championship, with Kofi himself explaining that he had never been Trick-or-Treating with his children, and had missed numerous moments with his family over the years in order to be on the road with WWE full-time, and has never once so much as complained.
"He's a good B+ player."
Did @WWEDanielBryan REALLY say that to @VinceMcMahon about @TrueKofi?! #SDLive pic.twitter.com/n0ACzlWetW

Mr. McMahon fired back, calling Kingston a “B-Plus Player” as an obvious callback to Triple H and Stephanie McMahon’s infamous struggle against Daniel Bryan and the Yes Movement heading into WrestleMania 30 in New Orleans. However, the boss did finally agree to give the fans what they want, and offered Kofi Kingston a spot in this year’s WWE Championship match on the Grandest Stage of Them All! On one condition…
All the 11-year veteran has to do to earn his title match at WrestleMania is compete and win a match next week on Smackdown Live. Sounds simple, right? Not exactly.
Kingston will have to defeat “The Viper” Randy Orton, WWE United States Champion Samoa Joe, Cesaro and Sheamus of The Bar, and the WWE Champion’s behemoth bodyguard Erick Rowan in a monstrous gauntlet match, calling back to his hour-long performance on Smackdown prior to February’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.
Should the New Day member find a way to beat the odds and defeat FIVE of the Smackdown brand’s toughest competitors, he will earn his opportunity and punch his ticket to face Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship this April at WrestleMania 35.
If @TrueKofi wants to challenge @WWEDanielBryan for the #WWETitle at #WrestleMania, he has to face @RandyOrton… and @SamoaJoe… and @WWESheamus… and @WWECesaro… and @ERICKROWAN NEXT WEEK on #SDLive! @WWEBigE @XavierWoodsPhD pic.twitter.com/7NsbLvAlJC
