Killer Kross Granted His Release from Impact Wrestling

Impact Wrestling has finally come to terms on the release of Killer Kross.

It was reported in May, as the promotion began the build towards their annual Slammiversary pay-per-view, that Kross, 34, had approached Impact management looking for a new deal said to be in the range of “six figures”. There was a counter-offer made, but ultimately he asked for his release instead.

Kross did end up working the Slammiversary pay-per-view in a First Blood match against Eddie Edwards. He has not been seen on television since, but has remained vocal on social media in an attempt to gain his freedom from the promotion.

From the Impact side, their argument was that Kross had joined the company with relatively no name around him, and due to his work on Impact Wrestling television (as well as indie appearances and his work in AAA) his stock rose massively in 2019.

Given that he was under contract through the end of the year, Impact management felt it was only right for him to live up to the remainder of his contractual responsibility instead of jumping ship mid-deal to chase a bigger spotlight somewhere else.

As for what’s next – that is the big question. There has been major interest from several key players, although his buzz has cooled off some since being off television for the second half of the year. It’s perhaps worth noting that his real-life girlfriend, Scarlett Bordeaux, recently signed with WWE.
