Loris Karius will reportedly stay away from Liverpool’s Champions League final against Tottenham over fears he will be a ‘distraction’.

The goalkeeper joined the Turkish side Besiktas in the summer on a two-year loan deal after a nightmare Champions League final for the Reds in which he conceded two howlers as Real Madrid won 3-1.

A number of high-profile errors, including a couple in pre-season, saw Jurgen Klopp replace him with Alisson and let Karius leave on the temporary deal.

Liverpool boss Klopp has reportedly told players that have been on loan this season that they are welcome to come and watch the final in Madrid on Saturday but they must make their own travel arrangements.

And the Daily Mail claims that Karius has decided to go on holiday instead as he doesn’t want to ‘divert attention’.

Liverpool‘s ‘club and coaching staff are supportive of the decision’ after he gifted Karim Benzema Real Madrid’s opening goal last season before failing to keep out Gareth Bale’s speculative shot.
