Jim Ross Blog: Money In The Bank Thoughts, WWE Draft On 7/19 & More
WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross updated his official blog on Monday at JRsBarBQ.com and shared his thoughts on a number of topics, including Sunday’s WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view. Below are some of the highlights.
On the WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view overall:
“Watched WWE’s MITB event Sunday night via the WWE Network and the picture and sound on my big screen TV via Apple TV was excellent. The overall production of the broadcast was smooth and had a great look of which many of us oftentimes overlook or take for granted but the pristine production of a WWE TV broadcast doesn’t come easily or inexpensively. The matches at MITB that I had high expectations for seem to deliver for the most part.”
On the AJ Styles vs. John Cena match:
“The AJ Styles vs John Cena bout was arguably match of the night for me even though I would have preferred AJ winning by cheating on his own and not the massive run in by Gallows and Anderson. Nonetheless it was a signature, villain victory for Styles over the WWE’s top hand.”
On the MITB ladder match:
“The talents delivered in the sometimes awkward and always dangerous MITB Ladder match. Even though I hoped Kevin Owens would win the briefcase I have no issues with Dean Ambrose winning and subsequently cashing in the contract on his way to becoming the WWE Champion in a wild, west atmosphere that was fun to watch.”
On the Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns main event:
“The Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns match was solid but arguably went too long in hindsight. There were too many false finishes IMO of which I rarely say. Constantly kicking out of an opponent’s finish is an ill advised trend within the biz from where I sit. This needs to change.”
On the announcement of the WWE Draft on 7/19:
“The WWE Draft which will facilitate the upcoming brand separation will occur on the first, LIVE Smackdown broadcast on the USA Network on Tuesday July 19. Great marketing idea to get more eyeballs on the first live SD.
“My memories of the 2008 Draft that emanated from San Antonio are not among the favorites in my career. Wah..poor me!”
