What’s the plot of Netflix’s Marianne?
The show follows Emma, a young author who discovers that the characters she created in her bestselling horror novels have started coming to life. Among them is Marianne, a witch who has dominated Emma’s dreams since childhood, and is now determined to lure her back to her hometown. The trailer offers glimpses of several sinister subplots – a body buried in the forest, occult wood carvings, demonic possessions – but the image of the witch tormenting Emma at every turn remains the most unnerving.
Who’s in the cast of Marianne?
French actress Victoire Du Bois takes the lead as Emma, while rising stars Lucie Boujenah, Tiphaine Daviot and Ralph Amoussou make up the supporting cast. Eagle-eyed viewers will recognise Du Bois as Chiara, a love interest of Armie Hammer’s Oliver in the coming-of-age drama Meanwhile, Mireille Herbstmeyer gives a haunting performance as the titular witch.
