Inside Ginger & Smart’s spring 2019 collection launch
In a vivid celebration of art, fashion and music, iconic Australian label Ginger & Smart launched its Visionaire spring 2019 collection on Thursday September 26 at Arthouse Gallery in Rushcutters Bay.The bright and airy space at Arthouse Gallery was lined with unique pieces by Belinda Fox – one of Australia’s leading contemporary artists – providing the perfect backdrop for Sydney-based sisters, Alexandra and Genevieve Smart (above), to display their new collection.

Throughout the evening, models mingled with guests, donned in the brand’s signature polished and playful designs – the collection proving a mix of sharp block-colour tailoring, vibrant floral prints, and earthy tone maxis.
Loyal customers of both the brand and Arthouse Gallery grazed upon a table of cheese, figs, and cold cuts. Even the drinks were artistic, with wines supplied by Crafters Union, a brand Ginger & Smart recently collaborated with on an exclusive wine bottle wrapped in one of its print.
Guests were truly immersed in the theme of the evening as they wondered the gallery before settling in for an insightful panel discussion moderated by Naomi Tosic of Paramount Office Space. First up was Ali Yeldham, who highlighted the growing influence of female contemporary artists globally, including Belinda Fox.
Alexandra and Genevieve Smart then gave guests a privileged peak into their creative processes for designing and developing a collection for Ginger & Smart. Joining the female-powered panel was Gary Sinclair from Tactile Music – a long-time collaborator with Ginger & Smart – to discuss how he fuses music, fashion and art.
