Inside a colourful Positano wedding

Tiarne Ettingshausen and Daniel Bova met in primary school when they were put in the same class in year two. The pair were close friends for years, until they started dating at the age of 15.

After 10 years of dating, Daniel proposed to Tiarne on a magical holiday in Mexico with a few of their friends. “Ring in his pocket, plenty of nerves and two hours later he got down on one knee at a private beach area under a big wooden arch,” Tiarne told Vogue. Daniel proposed with a thin diamond band which Tiarne later kept as her wedding ring. “Everyone thought it would happen, but to me it honestly came by surprise and it was a huge shock!”

The love birds tied the knot on the May 13, 2018, and decided to wed in the spring in Italy. With flowers blooming, the couple celebrated their nuptials at a beautiful 300-year old pastel pink villa on the cliff of Positano, Italy. They shared vows in a garden with astonishing views and then hosted their reception at a separate part of the property, in an extraordinary terrace filled with plenty of greenery. “As we were married in spring, the flowers were in bloom, and I knew I wanted to go vibrant and romantic. Everyone expected me to go monochrome, and in my mind I always wanted to go bright!” Tiarne adds.

The bride wore an Inbal Dror gown which she sourced at Helen Rodrigues Bridal. Wearing a beautiful traditional long-sleeve gown with a touch of elegance, the bride also changed into something fun and flirty by Aje for the evening celebrations, featuring a feathered skirt and embellished top. “I think everyone expected me to go fitted with an open back, so again I wanted to do something different,” Tiarne mentions.

The morning of the wedding went like this: “The sun was shining; I had a great sleep and a lovely breakfast with my bridesmaids and girlfriends on the terrace! The boys stayed at another hotel – Hotel Poseidon – for the night before, where they had a big buffet breakfast and swims at the beach before coming up to the villa.” The bride then started to get her hair and make-up done and began to write her vows.

“My mum’s speech really touched me, and everyone would agree that Dan’s was the highlight of the night! His best man Josh was hilarious, and my sisters, sister in law and maid of honour spoke beautifully,” the bride said. “I think just being all together in Positano really blew our mind. Being on one big family-style dinner table with all our closest loved ones was very special,” Tiarne told Vogue.

“I opted for minimal coverage and a slick low knot for hair,” says the bride of her beauty moment.

“I had my three sisters as my bridesmaids, along with my sister in law and my best friend, who was my maid of honour. We are all very close and I love them dearly, so it was very special for me to have the five of them.”
