Has the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show been cancelled for 2019?

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show may be over as we know it with Australian supermodel and Victoria’s Secret model, Shanina Shaik, who has walked in the famous fashion show five times, revealing the news to The Daily Telegraph.
According to the publication Shaik, 28, dropped the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show bombshell in an interview on Tuesday. “Unfortunately the Victoria’s Secret show won’t be happening this year,” the model reportedly said.
“It’s something I’m not used to because every year around this time I’m training like an Angel,” the model further shared, “but I’m sure in the future something will happen which I’m pretty sure about. I’m sure they’re [Victoria’s Secret] trying to work on branding and new ways to do the show because it’s the best show in the world.”
The annual lingerie show has been one of the television-viewing highlights each year thanks to the dazzling combination of over-the-top wings, extravagant Fantasy Bra modelled each year by one lucky Angel and the live concert-style soundtrack provided by music’s biggest names.
And even though the viewing figures for last year’s show were reported by The Daily Telegraph to have been the lowest in five years — at 3.3 million — those are numbers of viewers most brands could only dream of getting their brand in front of.
The news that the show may be cancelled is not entirely unexpected given that back in May the Wall Street Journal reported that the lingerie brand was planning not to televise the show going froward due to “declining viewership and criticism” of the show and the brand as a whole. However, it does seem that there still may be life yet in the fashion show in some other form, since the brand announced a slew of new models had been signed on as Victoria’s Secret Angels this year, including Leomie Anderson and Barbara Palvin.
