Gucci showing spring/summer 2019 in Paris

Red alert, Gucci is leaving Milan Fashion Week. The Italian luxury fashion
house, which has become the star child of parent company Kering Group, has
announced that their spring/summer 2019 runway show will take place during
Paris Fashion Week on September 24 this year. The story first broke on WWD.
Fret not though, they will only be decamping for one season, and will
return to Milan after that. The show is part of an homage that Gucci
creative director Alessandro Michele has given to France.

“Gucci is a global brand with deep and vibrant Italian roots and a
visionary French shareholder, Kering,” said Marco Bizzarri, president and
chief executive officer of Gucci, in a statement. “When Alessandro told me
of his desire to present the new collection in Paris — continuing the
French-inspired narrative — I thought it was a perfect way to continue the
creative homage to France.”

Gucci will show during Paris Fashion Week in September

The show date marks the transition day between Milan and Paris Fashion
Weeks as to avoid conflicting schedules.

Gucci won’t be skipping Milan entirely though. They plan on holding an
event during the second day of Milan Fashion Week at the Gucci Hub. Further
information about the event has not been revealed.

Gucci’s homage to France began with their pre-fall advertising campaign,
which was inspired by 1968 in France when riots and marches against the
government and military began. The brand’s cruise 2019 show is set to be
held in France on May 30 in Arles at the Promenade Des Alyscamp. “After
cruising New York, London and Florence, France was the most natural and
organic landing place for Gucci. I wanted to pay my homage to this
incredibly important and fundamental country for our culture and history,”
Michele said to WWD earlier this May.
