Everything we know about Princess Beatrice’s wedding so far
Princess Beatrice has announced her engagement to property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, meaning royal wedding bells are on the way once again. The eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and sister of Princess Eugenie (who married Jack Brooksbank in October 2018) is set to tie the knot in 2020, although the exact date has not yet been announced.
“We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement,” the couple said in a statement released on September 26. “We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married. We share so many similar interests and values, and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”
Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming royal wedding.
Senior members of the royal family, including the Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla, Prince William and Kate, and Prince Harry and Meghan are expected to attend the wedding. Princess Beatrice’s celebrity friends including Ellie Goulding, Robbie Williams and Ayda Field are also likely to be in attendance.
Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 35 — known to friends as ‘Edo’ — is a multi-millionaire property tycoon, who runs property consultancy, Banda. He and Princess Beatrice, 31, are believed to share the same circle of friends, and are thought to have been introduced by a mutual acquaintance. Mapelli Mozzi is the son of former Olympic skier Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi and Nikki Williams-Ellis, and is himself a count. He also has a young son known as ‘Wolfie’ from a previous relationship.
The couple are believed to have started dating in October 2018, around the time of Princess Eugenie’s wedding. Princess Beatrice is understood to have quickly introduced Mapelli Mozzi to her parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, who said they are “thrilled that Beatrice and Edoardo have got engaged, having watched their relationship develop with pride”.
It’s thought that Princess Beatrice and Mapelli Mozzi became engaged during a trip to Italy in September 2019. The couple were spotted enjoying a romantic break in Positano before travelling to Rome to attend the wedding of designer Misha Nonoo and Alexander Gilkes on 20 September. Guests at the wedding also included Prince Harry and Meghan, as well as Princess Eugenie.
Princess Beatrice’s Art Deco-style engagement ring was designed by British jeweller Shaun Leane, and appears to feature a 3.5-carat diamond in the centre, accompanied by two smaller baguette-cut diamonds.
The wedding will take place in 2020, with an exact date to be released in due course. Spring is a popular time for royal weddings, with Prince William and Kate marrying in April 2011, and Prince Harry and Meghan tying the knot in May 2018.

Princess Beatrice and Mapelli Mozzi have yet to reveal the venue for the wedding. However, the royal’s younger sister, Princess Eugenie, was married at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, followed by a reception at the Royal Lodge – so the couple could choose to go down a similar route.
Ralph & Russo is a potential contender to design Princess Beatrice’s wedding dress, having created the royal’s maid-of-honour dress for Princess Eugenie’s nuptials. Other designers she has worn in the past include Alberta Ferretti at the Met Gala 2018, Roksanda at Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding, and Emilia Wickstead at Trooping the Colour 2019.
Princess Beatrice was Princess Eugenie’s maid-of-honour, so she will likely pick her younger sister for the role on her wedding day. Other high-profile friends include designer Misha Nonoo and model Karlie Kloss. Meanwhile, Prince George and Princess Charlotte could be among the page boys and flower girls, with Mapelli Mozzi’s son, Wolfie.
