Is love in the air? For Australia’s newest bachelor, 31-year-old astrophysicist Matt Agnew, we’re hoping so. Because frankly, after last season’s bachelor, Nick “The Honey Badger” Cummins, chose neither Sophie or Brittany, there’s no denying the Melbourne native has a huge weight on his shoulders.

Whether you’re a hopeless romantic or in it for the drama, The Bachelor Australia 2019 is sure to go down in spectacular fashion. To get you ready for the reality show’s seventh season, we’ve gathered all the info you need to know.

Astrophysicist Matt Agnew was revealed to be the 2019 bachelor earlier this year. He’s a PhD candidate at the University of Swinburne, loves to travel and describes himself as “a secret weapon in the kitchen”.

He comes from a big family, like the Honey Badger. But unlike Cummins, is a regular guy and is relatively unknown. Agnew grew up in Adelaide and Perth with his siblings and his parents, who have been in love for 30 years (a relationship he’s looking to replicate). Osher Gunsberg, The Bachelor Australia’s host, confirmed he is “kind, he’s very smart, he’s very handsome and he’s got a real humility about him”.

While multiple outlets have published some sneaky shots from the set of the series, at this stage, there isn’t much to go on.  has obtained photos of the women entering the mansion and presumably meeting Matt for the first time. One turned up with a dog, and another in a wedding dress complete with veil. You never get a second chance to make a first impression, right?

We know that filming is underway, as a group of women were photographed on a group date with Agnew in Somersby. Typically, The Bachelor Australia airs in July or August, so it’s likely this season will follow suit. Channel 10 has also released the first promotional trailer for the new season, complete with Agnew making a superhero landing.

Until the contenders are officially identified, I guess we’ll just keep this trailer on a loop.
