Did AJ Styles & The Wildcard Rule Help Smackdown Live Viewership?

The May 7th edition of Smackdown Live was watched by an estimated 1.93 million viewers, up 5.3% from last week’s record low of 1.83 million.

It’s not much, but it’s at least some good news coming out of a hellacious couple of weeks for WWE, with the stock down nearly 15 points, pressure coming in from both NBC Universal and FOX, and the company clearly scrambling to bring the viewers back.

For what it’s worth, Smackdown Live fluctuates a lot less than its Monday Night Raw counterpart. The high for 2019 is only 2.39 million so far, which means the spread is only about 560,000. That might sound like a lot, but there are weeks where Raw loses nearly that many people from its first hour to its last.
