Crystal Palace linked with move for Chelsea defender Alonso
Crystal Palace are reportedly targeting a summer move for Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso to replace Patrick van Aanholt.
Van Aanholt is out of contract soon and is expected to be on his way out of Selhurst Park.
That’s left Palace officials searching for a new left back, with the Chelsea man at the top of the list.

According to the Daily Mail, Palace have set their sights on Alonso alongside Marseille’s Jordan Amavi.
The move could be an enticing one for Alonso as he’s currently out of favour at Stamford Bridge.
The 29-year-old has made just three appearances under boss Frank Lampard this campaign.
That’s mainly down to the form of recent signing Ben Chilwell, who is now the first choice left back.
It’s also a result of some off-field arguments. The report states that Alonso and Lampard fell out over the player wanting to watch a game on the team bus, rather than on the bench.
Since the arrival of Chilwell, Alonso has been linked with a host of clubs.
Most of those have been in Italy, including Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan. They have apparently contacted the player already.
The Blues seem to be willing to let Alonso leave, but only for the right price.
His current deal runs out in June 2023, which means Chelsea don’t have to worry about losing the player on a free.
Alongside Alonso, Palace officials are circling for 26-year-old Amavi.
The Frenchman has been in good form with Marseille since he joined the club from Aston Villa in August 2017.
Amavi made 48 appearances for Villa between 2015 and 2017, but could return to England with Palace to prove a point.
Palace manager Roy Hodgson will be hoping that van Aanholt remains at the club to prevent a transfer debacle.
If the Dutchman does decide to leave, Alonso and Amavi represent two decent options for the South London club.
