The glamorous Principality of Monaco played host to a royal wedding over the weekend when 11th-in-line to the Monégasque throne, Charlotte Casiraghi, who is Princess Caroline’s daughter and the granddaughter of the late Hollywood actress-turned-royalty, Princess Grace, tied the knot with her film producer fiancé, Dimitri Rassam.
The bride, a competitive equestrian sportswoman and published writer, bears a striking resemblance to her legendary grandmother, who is considered one of the greatest beauties and style icons in history. Princess Grace was tragically killed in a car accident in 1982, but her legacy was alive on her granddaughter’s wedding day, with the young royal paying tribute through her two wedding dresses and the jewels she wore on the day.
For the civil wedding ceremony held at Monaco’s Prince’s Palace, Casiraghi, 32, wore a long-sleeved lace brocade stone-coloured Saint Laurent dress with a trio of bows down the front, which drew comparisons to the pale champagne and pink brocade suit Grace Kelly wore for her own civil ceremony to wed Casiraghi’s grandfather, Prince Rainier III of Monaco, in 1956.

reports the bride and groom exchanged their vows in front of their family including their six-month-old son Balthazar, Casiraghi’s five-year-old son Raphael from her relationship with Gad Elmaleh, and Rassam’s seven-year-old daughter, Darya, from a previous marriage.
Following the civil ceremony, the bride changed into a second look for the reception at luxury hotel Villa La Vigie, stepping out in a strapless ivory Chanel gown paired with a stunning three-strand Cartier diamond necklace, which once belonged to her grandmother, Princess Grace. According to , the necklace was a wedding gift to Grace Kelly from her husband-to-be.
The diamond necklace wasn’t the only part of the bride’s second look containing a sweet nod to her grandmother, the Chanel gown emulated a very famous look from Princess Grace’s wardrobe archives: the white dress she wore in 1955 film To Catch a Thief.

Casiraghi’s sophisticated slicked-back hairstyle for the reception looked to have also taken inspiration from her grandmother, who favoured the chic style.
According to these celebrations were just one of a number the couple have planned to mark their wedding. The publication reports the newlyweds will hold a bigger celebration at a later date and a religious ceremony where Casiraghi grew up, in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
