Aston Villa have signed Ross Barkley on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
With Frank Lampard keen to reduce the numbers in his squad following summer arrivals, Villa were reportedly interested in both Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The former Everton star has followed Ollie Watkins, Bertrand Traore and Matty Cash to Villa Park this summer in what has been a productive transfer window for Dean Smith.
Barkley – capped 33 times by England – will be hoping extra game time improves his chances of featuring for England in the European Championships next summer.
Villa boss Smith said: “Capturing a player of Ross’s quality is a real coup for our Club and I am certain he will thrive here and improve our team.”
