Aston Villa offered ex-Liverpool favourite; want Anfield flop

Aston Villa have been linked with two former Liverpool players as they look to bring in reinforcements in January, according to reports.

The recent injuries to John McGinn, Tom Heaton and Wesley has seen Villa ramp up their efforts to sign players in the January transfer window.

And the Daily Mail claim that Villa have been offered the chance to sign Pepe Reina by AC Milan.

The Premier League side ‘desperately needs a goalkeeper’ after losing Heaton and the Spaniard – who left Liverpool in 2014 – is ‘eager to return to the Premier League’.

The report adds that Reina is confident ‘he can still perform at the top level’ despite only featuring for Milan twice this season.

Meanwhile, the Daily Telegraph reckons Villa want to re-sign Christian Benteke after five years away from the club.

The Telegraph says: ‘Crystal Palace have told Villa they are only interested in selling Christian Benteke at this stage of January, although that may change if Palace can sign a striker.’
