Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal Possibly Playing a Big Role At WrestleMania 34
Since 2014 at WrestleMania 30, WWE has featured the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal match on the biggest stage of them all. The inaugural bout was won by Cesaro, and subsequent winners have included Big Show, Baron Corbin and Mojo Rawley.

While the bout has little meaning on the winner’s future in WWE, as Mojo Rawley has been largely unused since winning last year, and Baron Corbin has seen his push halted, things might be different in 2018.
With the new “Andre the Giant” HBO documentary premiering on April 10th, just two days after WrestleMania 34, PWInsider.com is reporting the Andre Battle Royal match this year could be pushed much harder by WWE. The feeling in WWE is that if the HBO documentary draws well for ESPN, much like the Ric Flair documentary did, it could open the doors for more WWE and HBO projects.
Bill Simmons, a longtime wrestling fan, is helming the Andre HBO doc, and with a bigger focus on the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania, along with a tie into the movie, the possibility could be much greater for WWE and Simmons to work together again in the future.
Below is the official trailer for the upcoming HBO documentary:
Andre the Giant was literally the biggest celebrity in the world. HBO Sports, WWE, and the Bill Simmons Media Group present Andre The Giant, a documentary examining the life and career of one of the most beloved figures in wrestling history. Andre the Giant premieres April 10 on HBO.
