Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed Napoli’s transfer stance on Nicolas Pepe and Kieran Tierney and it’s good news for Arsenal.
Both Napoli and Arsenal are understood to have an agreement to sign Lille forward Pepe, while Tierney has been the subject of two bids from the Gunners.
Recent rumours have suggested that Arsenal will tie up a £72m deal for Pepe soon after his agent rejected Napoli’s proposal.
When asked about missing out on Pepe, Napoli boss Ancelotti said: “I’m not disappointed. I don’t like to talk about players of other teams. The market is so long. We are looking. If there are opportunities, we can do it.”
Sky Sports claimed on Sunday that Arsenal ‘are increasingly confident’ of securing a deal to sign Tierney from Celtic and it is likely that ‘all parties will be satisfied when a third bid is submitted’.
And when asked about Tierney, Ancelotti also ruled out a Napoli move for the left-back, he said: “Am I aware of Kieran Tierney? I know him and he is a really good player. He is a really good young left back but he is a Celtic player.
“We are looking for a lot of players for this coming season but he is a Celtic player and we have two good left-backs.”
