Massimiliano Allegri is making preparations for taking over at Manchester United if the Premier League club decide to part company with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to reports.

The Italian boss, who ‘attended Tottenham’s Champions League fixture against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night,’ is unemployed after leaving Juventus at the end of the last campaign but only after he lifted a fifth consecutive Serie A title.

The 52-year-old has been linked with several Premier League clubs since his departure from the Old Lady and now the Guardian suggest that he is ‘learning English’ in preparation for a possible job interview at United.

The Red Devils have only won two of their first seven Premier League matches this term and sit tenth in the table after drawing 1-1 with Arsenal on Monday night.

Allegri is expected to be on a two or three-man shortlist’ if United were to sack Solskjaer – but the report adds that ‘United have no intention of sacking a manager’.

United could face issues attracting the best players to the club if they fail to qualify for the Champions League but Allegri is ‘willing to take the job even if United do not qualify.’
